A fresh controversy has erupted in Indian cricket over the recent captaincy change. Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has strongly criticized the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for its decision to remove Rohit Sharma from the captaincy role.
Tiwary termed the move “disrespectful and unfair,” emphasizing that Rohit’s contribution to Indian cricket has been extraordinary. “This feels like an insult,” he said, questioning the reasoning behind such a major decision.
“Rohit Sharma has led India to several memorable victories. There doesn’t seem to be any valid reason to strip him of captaincy,” Tiwary remarked. “If you expect results from a captain, Rohit has consistently delivered them,” he added.
The former cricketer further warned that such abrupt decisions could impact players’ morale and urged BCCI to reconsider how it handles leadership transitions in the national team.
Under Rohit’s captaincy, India has performed brilliantly in multiple major tournaments, and fans across the country have expressed mixed reactions to his sudden removal on social media.
